After nearly two weeks of thrilling football action, the Kalinga Super Cup 2025 has come down to two final contenders. Former champions FC Goa will face off against Jamshedpur FC, who have reached their first-ever final, in a high-stakes match at Kalinga Stadium on May 3 at 19:30 IST.

A Path Paved with Determination

The Kalinga Super Cup, featuring 15 teams, has tested players’ endurance and skill. FC Goa aims to become the first club to win the tournament twice while also marking its return to continental football after a four-year hiatus. Their last appearance was in the 2021 AFC Champions League, a campaign they hope to recreate.

For Jamshedpur FC, the stakes are even higher. Despite falling short in two previous Super Cup semi-finals, they finally have a shot at lifting their first-ever major trophy. Moreover, a victory would mean a maiden qualification for the 2025-26 AFC Champions League Two Preliminary Round.

Coaches and Players Speak Ahead of Final

FC Goa’s head coach, Manolo Márquez, acknowledged the significance of the moment: “When you have this opportunity to qualify for Asia, the motivation is huge. Goa has been there before, but Jamshedpur never has. Both teams are determined to seize the chance.”

Jamshedpur FC’s Khalid Jamil emphasized his team’s hunger for success: “This game is extremely important. We have to give our best against a strong opponent.”

FC Goa captain Odei Onaindia and Jamshedpur’s young forward Nikhil Barla echoed similar sentiments, expressing their excitement for a match that could define their careers.

Past Meetings and Tactical Battles

This will be the fourth meeting between the two sides in a Super Cup fixture. Their past clashes have delivered 21 goals, proving how attacking both teams can be. Jamshedpur, despite having one of the weakest defenses in the ISL, is yet to concede a goal in the tournament—a statistic that may play a crucial role in their strategy.

Unlike the previous rounds, where ties were decided by penalties, the final will feature extra time before heading into a potential shootout. Both teams have experience in high-pressure moments, making this match unpredictable until the final whistle.

With history, prestige, and continental qualification on the line, all eyes will be on Kalinga Stadium for a final that promises fireworks.
