Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida inaugurated KALIKA, the Crèche Facility at Kharavel Bhawan, today. This facility has been developed to provide safe, nurturing day-care support for the children of working mothers and staff.
The initiative aims to strengthen work-life balance within government establishments and represents a significant step toward inclusive and empathetic workplace support systems.
With colourful activity spaces, trained caregivers, and an environment designed for learning, play, and well-being, KALIKA aims to help children develop while ensuring that parents—especially mothers—can focus on their work without stress.
Deputy Chief-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Smt. Anu Garg, speaking at the event, stated, “KALIKA is an important initiative for creating a workplace where motherhood and professional responsibility can coexist. When employees feel supported, both productivity and dignity thrive together.”

Principal Secretary of the Housing & Urban Development Department, Usha Padhee, emphasised, “A child-friendly space like KALIKA sends a strong message that care is part of our work culture. This initiative will alleviate challenges for working mothers and foster an environment where children can flourish with love, learning, and security.”
The inaugural event also included participation from senior officials and staff of the Housing & Urban Development Department at Kharavel Bhawan, reflecting a shared commitment to enhancing employee welfare and child-focused facilities. The Administrative Officer and caretaker of the crèche were also present.
KALIKA represents a milestone in Odisha’s vision for a modern workplace—one that promotes productivity while being rooted in compassion and nurturing the future through every child it shelters.
