Three members of a family lost their lives while one remains critically injured in the Narla area of Odisha’s Kalahandi district this morning.
At approximately 9:30 AM, Budha Barik of Terlo village was traveling with his wife, son Arab, and daughter on a motorcycle when a speeding pickup van collided with them near Deheli under Narla police limits. Budha and his son died instantly, while his wife and daughter sustained severe injuries. Tragically, the daughter succumbed to her injuries at the Narla Community Health Centre. The mother, whose condition worsened, was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for advanced treatment.
Following the incident, grieving family members and local residents staged a road blockade on the state highway connecting Bhawanipatna and M. Rampur, placing the bodies on the road and demanding adequate compensation and swift justice.
Police forces have been deployed to maintain law and order, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause and culpability behind the accident.
