Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, known for her travel vlogs under the channel Travel with Jo, is facing serious allegations of espionage linked to Pakistan.
Amid mounting controversy, her Instagram account was suspended by Meta following her arrest on May 17, 2025, under charges of spying for Pakistani intelligence operatives.
Authorities claim Malhotra’s involvement stemmed from her visa visits to Pakistan, during which she allegedly built ties with intelligence agent Ehsan-ur-Rahim, known as Danish. Reports suggest she was influenced by multiple sponsored trips, creating content that painted Pakistan in a positive light. Sections 3 and 5 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923, along with Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, have been invoked against her.
Investigators are now scrutinising her international travels and financial records, particularly her frequent trips to China, Bali, and Pakistan. Her presence in Pahalgam, shortly before a terror attack in the region, has also raised suspicions.
The case has spurred political reactions, with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini demanding a thorough probe, while opposition leaders call for caution against premature conclusions. Meanwhile, Malhotra’s family asserts she travelled legally and denies espionage claims.
As investigations unfold, questions linger about the intersection of digital influence and national security.
