Demonstrating communal harmony and spiritual devotion, people of all faiths gathered at Jatani’s famous Ganesh Puja to bid for Lord Ganesha’s sacred Agya Laddu (blessed sweet offering).
The annual auction event was organised by the Mo Jatni Post Office Traders’ Association, featuring a massive 41-kilogram Agya Laddu. Devotees engaged in spirited bidding to secure the revered prasad, which is widely believed to bring immense prosperity and divine blessings to the winner’s household and business ventures.
After intense competition among bidders, Arun Kumar Jena, a resident of Bada Nuagaon in Ramachandrapur Bazar, Jatani, placed the winning bid of Rs 41,000. Expressing his joy, Jena shared that he felt deeply blessed and privileged to win the sacred offering this year.
The festival highlighted Jatni’s unique cultural ethos, where people across communities unite to celebrate the grand idol worship and festivities.
The auction ceremony was graced by prominent guests, including Ardhendu Kumar Das, founder of the electronic news channel Bada Khabar. Key dignitaries from the market committee, including President Hemanta Kumar Sundaray, Secretary Manas Mishra, and other key executive office-bearers, were also present to oversee the smooth execution of the event.
