An explosion at an illegal firecracker manufacturing unit in Jalapura village, under the jurisdiction of Sadar police station in Jajpur district, has left four individuals injured, including two minors and two elderly persons.
The incident occurred on Thursday during the manufacturing process, leading to severe injuries for some.
The critically injured individuals were initially rushed to the Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital for immediate medical care. As their conditions worsened, one of the severely injured was transferred to SCB Medical College & Hospital for advanced treatment.
The illegal firecracker unit was being operated out of a residential house owned by Pitabas Pati. It has been reported that Pati’s son was also involved in the manufacturing activities. Kanhu Charan, an assistant from the 108 ambulance service, commented, “We received a call around noon and hurried to the incident site. The critically injured were already on their way to the hospital when we arrived, and we transported the other two injured.”
The explosion has raised significant concerns about the safety regulations and the proliferation of unauthorized firecracker manufacturing units within residential areas. Authorities are investigating the incident and are taking steps to prevent such occurrences in the future.
