A 55-year-old woman died in Jagatsinghpur district after her daughter-in-law allegedly attacked her with stones during a domestic dispute.
The incident occurred in Odisho village under Jagatsinghpur Sadar police station. The victim, identified as Sabita Biswal, reportedly went to her parental home in Jenamani village to resolve a quarrel between her relative, Swarnalata Swain and Swarnalata’s daughter-in-law, Aishwarya. Family members stated that disputes between the two women had become frequent.
During the attempt to mediate, Aishwarya allegedly struck Sabita with stones, leaving her unconscious. Relatives rushed her to the Jagatsinghpur District Headquarters Hospital in critical condition. Doctors declared her dead shortly after arrival.
Following the incident, Sabita’s family lodged a written complaint at Jagatsinghpur Sadar police station. Police registered the case and began an investigation into the circumstances of the death. Officers confirmed that they are questioning witnesses and examining evidence to determine responsibility.
The alleged attack shocked residents of Odisho village. Locals expressed concern over rising domestic conflicts that escalate into violence. Community members urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and deliver justice to the victim’s family.
Police officials assured that they will pursue the case with urgency. They stated that the investigation will continue until they establish the facts and take appropriate legal action.
