In a rain-triggered mishap, a bus carrying Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel skidded off a turn and plunged into the Sindh River near Kullan in Ganderbal district early Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred amid intense rainfall, raising concerns over weather-induced road hazards in the region.
According to local authorities, the bus was empty at the time, except for the driver, who sustained minor injuries and is reported to be stable. Initial reports from ANI suggest that weapons carried in the vehicle may have gone missing in the river following the crash.
A joint search and rescue mission involving SDRF Ganderbal and SDRF Sub Component Gund was promptly launched at the site. So far, three weapons have been recovered, and the operation remains active as officials scour the river for further retrievals.
SSP Ganderbal confirmed that the bus lost control at a sharp turn near the Kullan bridge, leading to the plunge. As weather conditions remain unstable, authorities urge caution in travel across high-altitude and river-adjacent routes.
