In a major crackdown on alleged tax evasion and illegal liquor trade, the Income Tax (IT) Department carried out extensive raids on multiple properties linked to Odisha liquor businessman Bikram Sahu and the Sahukar brothers in Paralakhemundi.
The IT raids began on Thursday, targeting several locations associated with Bikram Sahu, including Angul, Talcher, Kamakhyanagar (Dhenkanal), Paralakhemundi, Puri, and Bhubaneswar. The searches are part of an ongoing probe into suspected tax evasion and financial irregularities.
Officials are currently examining financial records such as bank statements, account books, and other critical documents to detect possible discrepancies. As of the latest updates, specific details on recoveries or findings remain undisclosed.
In a simultaneous operation, IT teams also raided the residences of Tirupati Sahukar and Someshwar Sahukar in Paralakhemundi. A 12-member team scrutinized their financial dealings, focusing on their involvement in the liquor and transport sectors.
The raids aim to uncover undisclosed income and potential tax violations, with authorities reviewing seized materials for further evidence.
