The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have released a video claiming successful airstrikes on two Iranian F-14 fighter jets stationed at a Tehran airport, alleging the jets were positioned to intercept Israeli aircraft.
The strike occurred amid heightened tensions between the two nations, as Israel launched a broad military offensive targeting multiple strategic locations across Iran, including nuclear and military facilities.
According to the IDF, Israeli intelligence also identified and eliminated a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) launch cell minutes before an attack was set to occur. The strike prevented what Israeli officials say would have been a drone assault on its territory. In a statement on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the IDF provided a recap of the operations, emphasizing that both the interception jets and the drone launch attempt were neutralized in preemptive actions over Tehran.
The offensive, which began Friday, has led to significant casualties, including the deaths of senior Iranian military commanders and nuclear scientists, and the destruction of a major nuclear enrichment facility near Qom. The escalation has triggered regional alarm, prompting several Middle Eastern countries to close airports and impose airspace restrictions due to the threat of a wider conflict.
Iran responded with a barrage of hundreds of drones and missiles, further deepening the confrontation. In a televised address, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei condemned Israel’s actions and vowed retribution, stating that Tehran would “act forcefully” and ensure that Israel does not “escape unscathed.”
The unfolding conflict marks one of the most volatile phases in Israel-Iran relations, with the international community closely monitoring the potential for broader regional destabilization.
