Goa: Mumbai City lifted their first-ever Indian Super League trophy after beating last season’s winners ATK Mohun Bagan 2-1 in the final at the Fatorda Stadium in Margao on Saturday.
After 115 matches and 298 goals, the ISL culminated with Sergio Lobera’s team winning the trophy. Earlier in February, Mumbai sealed the ISL League Winners Shield and now, the trophy too. Mumbai showed immense grit and determination to come back from a goal down, which was scored by David Williams. But later in the first half, an own goal from Tiri levelled things up between the two teams. Biping Singh rose to the occasion in the dying seconds of the game and scored the winner with a left-footed strike to the far corner.
