Rajasthan Royals’ skipper Sanju Samson is set to miss the upcoming IPL 2025 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru due to an abdominal injury.
The franchise confirmed that Samson would remain at RR’s home base for recovery and would not travel to Bangalore for the crucial encounter.
Samson experienced abdominal pain during RR’s game against Delhi Capitals and subsequently underwent scans. Earlier in the season, he had missed his team’s match against Lucknow Super Giants and was prevented from keeping wickets in RR’s first three games due to a fractured right index finger.
With Samson sidelined, Riyan Parag will take over captaincy duties for RR in the upcoming match. The Kerala batter has been a vital asset this season, scoring 224 runs in seven matches at an average of 37.33 and a strike rate over 140, including one half-century.
RR will hope to maintain their momentum in IPL 2025 despite Samson’s absence as they face RCB at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
