In a captivating showdown at Eden Gardens, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) dismantled Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 80 runs to climb the IPL 2025 points table.
KKR showcased a blend of explosive batting, clinical bowling, and sharp fielding to secure a commanding victory in front of their home crowd.
Batting first, KKR overcame early setbacks as Ajinkya Rahane (38), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (50 off 32), and Venkatesh Iyer (60 off 29) anchored the innings with vital contributions. Rinku Singh added a fiery finish with an unbeaten 32, propelling KKR to an imposing 200/6 in their 20 overs.
In response, SRH faltered under relentless pressure from the KKR bowling attack. Vaibhav Arora and Harshit Rana wreaked havoc on SRH’s top order, leaving the middle and lower orders exposed. Heinrich Klaasen (33) and Kamindu Mendis (27) provided a glimmer of hope but couldn’t salvage the innings. Varun Chakravarthy (3 wickets) and Andre Russell (2 wickets) shone with the ball, bundling SRH out for 120 in just 16.4 overs.
KKR’s comprehensive victory, marked by aggressive tactics and disciplined execution, cements its reputation as strong contenders for the IPL 2025 title.
