Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) spinner Digvesh Rathi has addressed the controversy surrounding his notebook celebration, which previously led to a match ban and multiple fines during IPL 2025.
Rathi, who is expected to return for the May 27 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), shared the origin of his celebration during a fan interaction.
“Jab bhi koi tournament hota hai, main notebook leke jaata hoon. Usme sabke naam likhta hoon (Whenever there’s a tournament, I carry a notebook to jot down everyone’s names),” Rathi explained when asked about his gesture.
The celebration drew significant attention after it sparked a heated exchange with SunRisers Hyderabad’s Abhishek Sharma, prompting disciplinary action from the IPL authorities. The 27-year-old missed the subsequent fixture against Gujarat Titans but is now cleared to play.
As LSG are already out of playoff contention, they aim to end their season on a high, while RCB must win to avoid a lower playoff seeding. With pressure mounting, both teams will be looking to leave a mark in this high-stakes encounter at the Ekana Stadium.
