A 32-year-old youth drowned while bathing in the Indravati River near Khandiguda village in Nabarangpur on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Nilam Ghatarla, a resident of Khandiguda village. According to sources, Nilam had gone to the Indravati River to bathe when he accidentally slipped into deep water and drowned.
Upon receiving information, a team of fire services personnel led by Kamalakantha Das rushed to the spot and launched a search operation.
The team successfully retrieved the body from the river. Police have initiated preliminary proceedings, and local authorities are conducting further investigation into the incident.
