Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today welcomed the Mayor of Indore, Pusyamitra Bhargav, in a meeting aimed at exchanging strategies to advance urban sanitation.
Hosted by BMC Mayor Smt. Sulochana Das, alongside Deputy Mayor Smt. Manjulata Kanhar and Commissioner Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, the event spotlighted shared challenges and innovative practices in achieving cleaner cities.
Bhargav elaborated on Indore’s commendable practices that have secured its position as India’s cleanest city in Swachh Survekshan rankings for years. He emphasized three nonnegotiable pillars driving Indore’s success: active citizen participation, dedicated service by sanitation workers (“Safei Mitras”), and zero tolerance for violations.
BMC Mayor Das highlighted Bhubaneswar’s strides in sanitation initiatives, focusing on how a citizen-driven approach and collaborative efforts contribute to the city’s aesthetic and hygiene advancements.
This exchange demonstrated the value of inter-city learning, showing how leveraging best practices can lead to a cleaner and healthier urban environment.
