In the wake of early morning Israeli airstrikes on Iran’s capital Tehran, the Indian Embassy in Iran has issued a public advisory urging all Indian nationals and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) to exercise maximum caution, restrict movements, and closely follow local safety protocols.
The embassy’s statement comes after Israel launched targeted strikes on nuclear facilities in Tehran on Friday, June 13, 2025, significantly escalating regional tensions. The strikes reportedly damaged multiple buildings and caused widespread panic in parts of the Iranian capital.
“In view of the current situation in Iran, all Indian nationals & persons of Indian origin in Iran are requested to remain vigilant, avoid all unnecessary movements, follow the Embassy’s Social Media accounts & observe safety protocols as advised by local authorities,” the advisory read.
The Israeli military later justified the offensive, claiming it had “no choice” but to target Iran’s advancing nuclear infrastructure, accusing Tehran of breaching international agreements and posing a direct threat to regional peace.
The development has sparked global concern, with several countries issuing travel warnings and urging diplomatic restraint. While no Indian casualties have been reported so far, the Indian government is reportedly monitoring the situation closely and remains in touch with local authorities for emergency support if needed.
This advisory echoes the growing unease over the potential for a full-scale conflict between Iran and Israel, which would have wide-ranging implications not just for West Asia, but also for global oil markets and international diplomatic relations.
The Indian community in Iran is advised to keep emergency contacts handy and to stay updated through official Indian Embassy channels.
