Radha Yadav has been named as the official replacement for injured cricketer Shuchi Upadhyay in India’s squad for the upcoming white-ball series against England, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Thursday.
Upadhyay, a 20-year-old left-arm spinner, sustained a left shin injury during India’s pre-tour camp at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Her absence leaves a gap in India’s spin options, but the experienced Radha Yadav has stepped in to reinforce the squad.
India is set to play five T20Is followed by three ODIs against England. The squad, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, includes key players such as Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh, and Deepti Sharma.
The revised squad aims to capitalise on Radha Yadav’s expertise, particularly her ability to deliver under pressure. India will be looking to perform strongly in English conditions as they prepare for this crucial series.
