India will face South Africa in a three-match ODI series starting Sunday, aiming to bounce back after a 0-2 whitewash at home.
The matches will be played in Ranchi, Raipur, and Visakhapatnam as Temba Bavuma’s Proteas look to continue their dominance in the 50-over format.
KL Rahul will lead India in the absence of captain Shubman Gill and vice-captain Shreyas Iyer. Gill is recovering from a neck injury sustained during the opening Test against South Africa, while Iyer remains sidelined with an abdominal injury from the Australia tour. Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant returns to the squad after missing the Australia series.
Spotlight on Senior Players
Much of the attention will fall on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who return to action after promising performances in their last assignment. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj have been rested, while Axar Patel misses out. Tilak Varma, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ruturaj Gaikwad strengthen the squad.
For South Africa, the absence of pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada due to a rib injury is a major setback. Marco Jansen and Nandre Burger will shoulder extra responsibility in his absence.
