The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has announced that the AFC Asian Cup 2026 qualifier between India and Singapore will now be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, Goa.
Originally scheduled for Bengaluru’s Sree Kanteerava Stadium, the October 14 fixture was relocated due to logistical constraints and stadium availability.
Khalid Jamil’s squad will face Singapore twice during the October international window. The first leg is set for October 9 at the National Stadium in Kallang, Singapore, followed by the return leg in Goa. India, currently at the bottom of Group C with just one point from two matches, is desperate for a win to revive its qualification hopes.
KSFA president N.A. Haris expressed disappointment over the venue change, citing the multi-sport usage of the Kanteerava Stadium as a challenge. He added that Bengaluru will soon have a dedicated football stadium to host future international fixtures.
This match marks a crucial test for Jamil, who took over after Manolo Marquez’s departure, and could define India’s trajectory in the Asian Cup qualifiers.
