India is set to launch the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) in 100 partner schools, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
This initiative aims to promote competency-based education and global best practices, providing students with international academic opportunities.
The WACE, recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), will be formally introduced in India, making it the first government-backed international school board to operate in the country.
Students enrolled in WACE-affiliated schools will receive globally acknowledged credentials, including the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR), accepted by universities worldwide. The curriculum focuses on inquiry-based learning, moving away from rote memorisation and encouraging critical thinking and creativity.
With AIU’s recognition, students completing WACE in India will be eligible for admissions to Indian universities, gaining both global and local credibility. The initiative aligns with India’s vision for holistic and modern education, emphasising formative assessments through projects, school-based evaluations, and moderated grading.
As India embraces this educational shift, the introduction of WACE is expected to bring significant advancements in learning methodologies, equipping students with skills to thrive in an evolving global landscape.
