India’s highest total in the format against England came back in 2008 in Rajkot, when it notched up 387 for five in 50 overs. Its second-highest score is 381 for six in Cuttack in 2017. India went on to win both games.
On Wednesday, India was powered by Shubman Gill’s century, and Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer’s fifties after skipper Rohit Sharma fell early. KL Rahul’s 29-ball 40 also played a key role in India putting on a daunting total on the board.
India already has an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. The Men in Blue also won the preceding five-match T20I series 4-1.
