India has blocked the X account of Turkish state broadcaster TRT World, citing legal concerns.

The decision comes amid increasing tensions between India and Turkey, particularly over Turkey’s alleged support for Pakistan through military drones and statements from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The Turkish media outlet’s removal follows India’s earlier actions against Chinese state-affiliated news platforms, including Global Times and Xinhua News Agency, which were accused of amplifying Pakistan’s narrative on sensitive geopolitical matters.

According to reports, Indian officials viewed TRT World’s coverage as potentially hostile, leading to its restriction. The move has coincided with growing calls within India to boycott Turkish products and travel due to Ankara’s perceived stance on regional conflicts. The hashtag #BoycottTurkey has trended across social media platforms, reflecting public sentiment.

While TRT World’s website remains accessible, its removal from X marks a significant shift in India’s approach to foreign media perceived as undermining national interests. Officials have not released a detailed statement regarding the decision, but analysts suggest that the restriction aligns with India’s broader strategy to counter influence campaigns from adversarial nations.
