The Indian government blocked the X (formerly Twitter) account of Pakistan’s Defence Minister, Khawaja Asif, in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists.
This action follows India’s ban of 16 Pakistani YouTube channels accused of disseminating provocative and communal content to their 63 million subscribers. The government justified the bans as essential to curb harmful narratives in the wake of the attack.
Khawaja Asif’s admission of Pakistan’s history of supporting terrorism in a recent interview sparked international criticism. At the United Nations, India strongly criticised Pakistan for destabilising the region and fueling global terrorism.
Heightened security measures have also been implemented for Kashmiri students in Chandigarh, showcasing India’s proactive approach in the aftermath of the tragedy.
