The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow warning this morning, predicting thunderstorms with lightning or light rain in ten Odisha districts within the next three hours.
The regional weather office released the nowcast alert at 8:30 am. The districts under warning include Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Balasore.
Residents in these areas have been advised to remain alert and seek shelter to avoid lightning strikes. The IMD emphasised caution, urging people to monitor weather updates closely.
Alongside the thunderstorm warning, the IMD forecast a gradual rise in night temperatures by 2–3 degrees over the next 48 hours. This change may affect local weather conditions and contribute to warmer nights across Odisha.
The IMD thunderstorm warning highlights the importance of preparedness during sudden weather changes. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and provide updates to ensure public safety.
