IIT Hyderabad has secured 46 positions in the prestigious Global Top 2% Scientists list released by Stanford University and Elsevier.
This recognition includes 17 faculty members for career-long impact and 29 for single-year influence in 2024. A total of 31 faculty members earned these spots, marking a rise from last year’s 33 positions. The ranking uses metrics like citations, h-index, and co-authorship-adjusted impact. It reflects global acknowledgment of IITH’s research excellence and influence.

Chairman Dr. BVR Mohan Reddy praised the faculty for their dedication and innovation. He called the achievement a testament to IITH’s commitment to global research leadership. IITH’s motto, “Inventing & Innovating in Technology for Humanity,” drives its academic mission. The institute ranks 7th in engineering and 6th in innovation under NIRF. It holds the 664th spot in QS World University Rankings 2026.

IITH boasts 330+ faculty and over 5,750 students, with 60% in PG and PhD programs. The institute has completed 5,040+ projects worth ₹1,600+ crore in R&D funding. In 2024–25 alone, it received ₹335+ crore, averaging ₹1 crore per faculty. IITH has published 12,220+ papers and earned 2,29,300+ citations. It has filed 580+ patents, including 210 in 2024, aiming for 365 patents in 2025. Its 320+ startups have created 1,100+ jobs and generated ₹1,500+ crore in revenue.
