Pioneering Research in Sustainability: IIT Bhubaneswar Leads the Way!

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar, in collaboration with the Materials Research Society of India (MRSI), hosted the prestigious international conference, Advanced Materials in Energy, Environment & Sustainability (AMEES-2025), from May 16 to 18.

The event brought together leading scientists, researchers, and experts from across the globe to discuss groundbreaking advancements in sustainability-focused materials and technologies.

The conference was inaugurated by Prof. V. Pandu Ranga, Dean (Continuing Education), IIT Bhubaneswar, alongside Prof. Kulamani Parida, from MRSI-Bhubaneswar Chapter. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from distinguished scholars such as Prof. Snehasis Chowdhuri, Head of the Department of Chemistry, School of Basic Sciences, IIT Bhubaneswar, Prof. Umaprasana Ojha, Convenor, and Dr. Palas Roy, Co-Convenor.

A key highlight of the three-day event was the presentation of research in vital areas, including renewable energy, water purification, solar photovoltaics, energy storage, and nanotechnology. More than 35 oral presentations and 50 poster exhibits showcased the latest findings and innovations. Several prestigious awards, including those from the American Chemical Society and the Royal Society of Chemistry, were presented to outstanding researchers in recognition of their contributions.

The Anusandhan National Research Foundation, under the Government of India, along with various equipment and chemical suppliers, provided financial support to make this conference a success. Experts emphasised that the discussions held at AMEES-2025 would significantly contribute to India’s growing efforts toward renewable energy adoption, environmental restoration, and sustainable practices.

The conference concluded on a high note, reinforcing IIT Bhubaneswar’s commitment to fostering innovation and paving the way for a more sustainable future.
