“If Terrorism Is a Rabid Dog, Pakistan Is the Wild Handler”: TMC’s Abhishek Banerjee in Tokyo

Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee delivered a scathing attack on Pakistan during an address in Tokyo, as part of an all-party Indian delegation visiting Japan under Operation Sindoor, India’s global diplomatic initiative to expose Pakistan’s role in sponsoring terrorism.


Speaking to the Indian diaspora on Thursday, Banerjee declared, “India refuses to bow down. We will not kneel to fear. If terrorism is a rabid dog, Pakistan is the wild handler. We must unite globally to stop this wild handler, or it will breed more rabid dogs.”

Banerjee, a prominent Opposition leader, said India’s stand against terrorism transcends political lines. “We may come from different political parties, but we are united in this fight. We have come here with evidence to show that Pakistan nurtures terrorism. Today it is India; tomorrow, it could be another country,” he warned.

The visit is part of India’s diplomatic offensive following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians. India responded with targeted strikes on nine terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK), as part of Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7. Banerjee emphasized the precision of the operation, noting that no civilian lives were harmed.

He also hit out at Pakistan’s attempts to play the victim. “After 15 days of waiting, we responded decisively. Pakistan always presents itself as the victim while secretly breeding terror outfits. Groups like The Resistance Front, a proxy for Lashkar-e-Taiba, have claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam attack. The world needs to see Pakistan’s real face.”

Banerjee is part of a diverse delegation led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha. Other members include Ambassador Mohan Kumar, BJP MPs Dr Hemang Joshi, Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, and Pradan Baruah, as well as CPI(M) MP John Brittas. The team’s mission is to brief Japan and other strategic partners on India’s anti-terror operations and the broader threat posed by cross-border terrorism.
