Principal Secretary of the Housing & Urban Development Department, Smt. Usha Padhee conducted an early morning site visit to Ganguanala and Daya West Canal to combat urban flooding and promote sustainable water management.
The visit, accompanied by key officials from the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), aimed to assess the condition of critical drainage channels and water bodies.
During the inspection, officials discussed immediate desilting and cleaning measures while also focusing on long-term solutions, such as ecological restoration and community engagement. Addressing encroachment and structural bottlenecks, Smt. Padhee emphasised integrated planning to enhance water-carrying capacity and environmental sustainability.
The visit underscores the government’s commitment to proactive governance and urban resilience. With specific timelines set for intervention, Bhubaneswar is making strides toward becoming a flood-resilient and sustainable urban centre.
