Dr. Krushna Chandra Mohapatra, Minister of Housing & Urban Development and Public Enterprises for the Government of Odisha, visited Insectika’s state-of-the-art Black Soldier Fly (BSF)-based waste upcycling facility at the Bharatpur Micro Composting Centre today.
During the visit, the Minister reviewed the innovative processes through which organic waste is transformed into high-value products using BSF larvae. He praised the technology’s potential to enhance municipal waste management, reduce the burden on landfills, and generate sustainable by-products, such as protein-rich animal feed and organic soil enhancers.
Dr Mohapatra highlighted the partnership between the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation and Insectika in introducing advanced circular-economy solutions for urban sanitation. He emphasised that these technology-driven initiatives align with the state’s commitment to scientific waste processing, environmental stewardship, and the creation of green livelihoods.
Other attendees at the visit included N. Ganesh Babu, Deputy Commissioner of BMC; Mr Arun Kumar Das, Founder & CEO; Dr Chinmayee Acharya, Head of R&D at Insectika Biotech; and other relevant stakeholders.
