A man was found murdered near SCS (Autonomous) College Square under the Puri Town Police Station limits.
The victim, identified as Smarak C alias Kuna from Jaleswar in Balasore district, worked as a helper in a local hotel in Puri.
Witnesses reported that the victim sustained severe stomach injuries. Locals rushed him to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police officials immediately reached the scene after receiving information about the incident.
Puri Superintendent of Police Prateek Singh confirmed the murder case. “The victim had multiple injuries. He was rushed to a hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. We are securing the area and have registered a murder case. The forensic team has also reached the spot to assist with the investigation,” Singh said.
The shocking murder has sparked tension in the area. Residents expressed concern over rising crime incidents and demanded strict action. Police cordoned off the crime scene and began collecting evidence. The forensic team examined the spot to trace clues that could lead to the assailants.
