The historical Odia play Ahe Nilashaila opened at Rabindra Mandap in Bhubaneswar today, January 15, and will run for four consecutive days until January 18. Each performance begins at 6 pm.

Presented by Choklate Productions in association with Khimji Jewellers, the play has already won widespread appreciation across Odisha. Previous stagings at multiple venues drew overwhelming responses from audiences.

Ticket Information

Tickets are available online through BookMyShow, allowing viewers to secure seats in advance. Interested theatre lovers can also contact Choklate Productions at 9853035104 or 8908020104 for further details.

About the Play

Directed by acclaimed theatre director Lala Biren Ray, Ahe Nilashaila narrates a powerful historical tale of devotion and sacrifice. The play depicts the struggles of Gajapati King Ramachandra Deva II as he fought to safeguard Lord Jagannath’s honour against the malicious designs of Naib Nazim Taqi Khan.

The storyline draws inspiration from the celebrated novel Nila Saila by Sahitya Akademi Award-winning Odia writer Surendra Mohanty. The script was jointly crafted by eminent playwrights Shankar Prasad Tripathi and Dr Pratima Hota, blending historical depth with dramatic intensity.

The staging of Ahe Nilashaila at Rabindra Mandap marks another milestone in Odisha’s vibrant theatre tradition, offering audiences a chance to relive a timeless story of faith and resilience.
