Harleen Deol delivered a composed and match-winning performance to guide UP Warriorz to their first victory of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026, defeating defending champions Mumbai Indians by seven wickets on Thursday.

A day after the disappointment of being controversially retired out despite batting fluently, Harleen responded in emphatic fashion. She anchored the run chase with an unbeaten 64 off 39 balls, showcasing maturity, confidence, and calm under pressure as UP Warriorz chased down 162 with ease.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians posted a competitive total of 161 for 5 in their 20 overs, largely thanks to a powerful innings from Nat Sciver-Brunt. The England all-rounder struck 65 off 43 deliveries, combining strength with smart placement after a slow start to the innings. However, the Mumbai batting lineup struggled to accelerate consistently in the first half, which ultimately proved costly.

UP Warriorz, who had endured three consecutive defeats to start their campaign, produced a disciplined bowling effort followed by a well-paced chase. Harleen Deol’s innings formed the backbone of the pursuit, ensuring there were no late stumbles as UP crossed the finish line comfortably in 18.1 overs.

The victory marks UP Warriorz’s first success of the WPL 2026 season in four matches, while Mumbai Indians suffered their second loss in as many games. The result also highlighted UP’s resilience and ability to bounce back, with Harleen’s performance standing out as a statement of intent for the remainder of the tournament.
