A preparatory meeting chaired by BMC Mayor Sulochana Das took place today to finalize plans for the grand celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has planned an elaborate two-phased program to mark the occasion.
The first phase will kick off with a Handloom Walkathon, starting at 7:00 AM from Master Canteen Square to the BMC Head Office. Participants are encouraged to don traditional Odisha handloom attire, promoting the region’s rich cultural heritage.
In the evening, a Cultural Programme cum Felicitation Ceremony will be held at Utkal Mandap at 5:30 PM. This event aims to celebrate and honor the achievements and contributions of women in various fields.
During the meeting, discussions were also held regarding the installation of solar water kiosks and providing water for stray animals during the upcoming heatwave season, showcasing BMC’s commitment to community welfare and environmental sustainability.
The meeting saw the attendance of Hon’ble Deputy Mayor, Standing Committee Chairpersons, Additional Commissioners, Corporators, and other BMC officials, all working together to ensure the success of these initiatives.
