TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) has successfully installed solar power systems with a cumulative capacity of 396.4 kilowatts (kW) across 16 strategic locations in Southern Odisha.
TPSODL continues to redefine responsible energy distribution by integrating clean energy into its operational infrastructure.
The solar installations span a diverse set of facilities, including the Corporate Office, Circle and Division Offices, and critical Primary Sub-Stations (PSS) and Section Offices. These locations now harness solar energy not only to meet a portion of their power requirements but also to set an example for sustainable utility practices in the region. The corporate headquarters in Berhampur leads the way with a 100-kW installation, followed by major installations at Chatrapur Division Office (34.1 kW), MRT Ambagada (27.5 kW), Sasan Ambagaon PSS (28.6 kW), and the Combined Hinjli CRC, Division Office, and PSS (28.05 kW).
Other facilities like Bhanjavihar PSS (16.5 kW), Narendrapur PSS (18.7 kW), Taratarini PSS (17.05 kW), Gopalpur PSS (15.4 kW), and Ganjam PSS (17.05 kW) have also been brought under the solar network. Installations at Ambagada PSS, Ramchandrapur PSS, Golanthara/Mantridih PSS, Taratarini Section Office, City Circle Office, and the Combined Hinjli Section and Kanchudu Section collectively contribute to this growing green footprint.
The transition to solar energy has already started to show tangible results through reduced electricity expenses at these sites. TPSODL has equipped each of the installations with advanced smart meters and IoT-enabled monitoring systems, which allow real-time tracking of energy generation and usage. All installations adhere to the highest safety and engineering standards, with rooftop designs optimised for maximum solar efficiency and seamless integration with existing structures.
This initiative is a crucial component of TPSODL’s broader Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) agenda. With an estimated annual carbon offset of 388.5 tons of CO₂, the move not only helps to combat climate change but also encourages greater community awareness about renewable energy. Employee engagement programs are also being launched to build a deeper understanding of sustainability within the organisation.
Speaking on the achievement, Mr. Amit Kumar Garg, CEO of TPSODL, said, “Sustainability is not just an initiative at TPSODL; it is embedded in our operational DNA. These solar installations mark an important milestone in our journey to reduce carbon emissions and lead by example in Southern Odisha’s transition to a greener energy future.”
Looking ahead, TPSODL has ambitious plans to expand its solar efforts. The company is set to commission solar power systems at over 10 additional Primary Sub-Stations and Section Offices, which will collectively add another 370 kW to its installed capacity. Once completed, this expansion will nearly double TPSODL’s current solar footprint, taking the total to more than 760 kW in the near future.
With a strong commitment to empower communities, adopt innovation, and ensure energy equity across Southern Odisha, TPSODL’s solar efforts stand as a shining example of what integrated, clean utility services can accomplish.
