The Odisha government has initiated the eviction process to remove unauthorised occupants from government quarters in the capital city.
The eviction drive, jointly carried out by the General Administration (GA) and Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), focuses on reclaiming government properties from illegal settlers, ensuring lawful allocation and utilisation of public housing.
The Unit-2 area witnessed the first wave of action, where encroachers were vacated as part of a broader initiative to free government properties from unauthorised occupation. The move follows strict directives from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who has urged district authorities to expedite the removal of illegal occupants from government land and residences.
Authorities have emphasised that this eviction drive is part of a larger effort to prevent misuse of government assets and ensure equitable access to public housing. Officials confirmed that similar eviction operations will continue in other locations where illegal occupation has been identified.
