India is set to host its largest AI data centre, with Google, Adani Group, and Bharti Airtel coming together for a landmark partnership. The new facility will be built in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, marking a major step in India’s digital and AI growth story.

A $15-Billion Investment in India’s AI Future

As part of its global expansion, Google plans to invest $15 billion in India over the next five years. The tech giant’s new AI hub in Vizag will focus on developing advanced AI solutions and supporting digital transformation across industries.

The infrastructure will be developed by Adani ConneX, a joint venture between Adani Enterprises and EdgeConneX. The project also includes a new international subsea cable, renewable energy systems, and energy storage projects in Andhra Pradesh.

“This is more than just an investment in infrastructure — it is an investment in the soul of a rising nation,” said Gautam Adani, Chairman of Adani Group.
“Visakhapatnam is now set to become a global technology destination, and we are proud to be part of this journey.”

AI Hub Powered by Clean Energy

The Google AI hub in Vizag will be powered by renewable energy and connected through a high-speed fibre-optic network. It will support businesses, startups, and developers looking to scale AI applications responsibly and efficiently.

“This data centre is designed to serve not only Google’s needs but also those of entrepreneurs and enterprises across India,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, in New Delhi.

Andhra Pradesh’s Vision for AI Infrastructure

The project aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s goal of building 6 GW of data-centre capacity by 2029, according to the state’s Technology Minister Nara Lokesh. The initiative is expected to attract international investment and create thousands of jobs in the region.

India: A Global AI Investment Destination

India is becoming one of the fastest-growing markets for AI infrastructure.

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) plans to invest $12.7 billion in India over five years.

  • Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced a $6.5 billion AI data centre project.

  • OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, is exploring a 1 GW data centre partnership in India.

These investments show growing confidence in India’s tech ecosystem and its ability to lead global AI innovation.

Visakhapatnam: Emerging as a Global Tech Hub

With the launch of this ambitious project, Visakhapatnam is expected to emerge as a key global AI hub. The city’s growing infrastructure, skilled workforce, and government support make it a strong destination for technology and innovation.

The collaboration between Google, Adani, and Airtel marks a turning point for India’s AI ecosystem — driving sustainable, inclusive, and long-term digital growth.
