California: In a surprising turn of events at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, India’s acclaimed film “All We Imagine As Light” did not secure wins in either of its nominated categories. Directed by Payal Kapadia, the film was in contention for Best Non-English Language Film and Best Director.
The Best Non-English Language Film award went to France’s “Emilia Perez,” which has been a strong contender throughout the awards season. Despite its critical acclaim and a historic Grand Prix win at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, “All We Imagine As Light” was unable to clinch the Golden Globe.
Payal Kapadia, who made history as the first Indian director to be nominated for a Golden Globe, also missed out on the Best Director award. The category was won by Brady Corbet for his film “The Brutalist”.
The film, which explores the friendship and longings of two Malayali nurses in Mumbai, has been praised for its storytelling and performances. Although it did not win, the nominations themselves mark a significant achievement for Indian cinema on the international stage.
