The Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack, has convicted Sanjaya Kumar Sahoo, former Sub-Divisional Small Savings Officer, O/o Collectorate, Cuttack (Retired), in a vigilance trap case.
He has been sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
Sahoo faced trial under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) and Section 7 of the Act, for allegedly demanding and accepting illegal gratification from a complainant in return for issuing a postal agency licence.
Following the court’s verdict, Odisha Vigilance has decided to initiate proceedings with the competent authority to stop the pension benefits of the convicted officer.
The conviction reinforces the state’s focus on accountability and transparency within government services.
