Arun Kumar Jena, Former Technical Consultant at DPC, SSA, Mayurbhanj and currently serving as Junior Engineer, RWSS, Paralakhemundi, has been convicted in a disproportionate assets (DA) case by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada.
On August 30, 2025, Jena was sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 1,00,000 under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and Section 109 of the IPC. The conviction follows a detailed investigation and chargesheet filed by Odisha Vigilance, which uncovered assets far exceeding his known sources of income.
Jena, a resident of Sridhar Nagar-1, Paralakhemundi in Gajapati district, had been under scrutiny for several years. His conviction marks a major win for Odisha Vigilance in its ongoing crackdown on public servants involved in corrupt practices.
Following the court’s verdict, Odisha Vigilance has announced its intention to move the competent authority for Jena’s dismissal from government service. The case has drawn attention to the importance of transparency and accountability in public administration.
