Bijay Kumar Pati, Former Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) at Jamsola Check Gate, Mayurbhanj, was convicted today in a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada.

The retired officer was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and Section 109 of the IPC for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Following a detailed trial, the court sentenced him to two years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹1,00,000. In default of payment, additional imprisonment may be applicable as per legal provisions.

Odisha Vigilance has announced that it will now move the competent authority to initiate pension stoppage proceedings against Sri Pati in light of his conviction.

This marks another milestone in the state’s ongoing efforts to ensure accountability and transparency in public service.
