Former Indian cricketer Venkatesh Prasad visited the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri and expressed his gratitude after offering prayers at the iconic shrine.
Speaking to the media after the darshan, Prasad said,
“It’s been wonderful coming here. It’s one of the iconic places for all of us — not for one particular community, it’s for everybody. Whatever happens, it’s only by God’s grace. Whatever little I have contributed with my performance on the field, it is only by God’s grace and nothing else. I am a true believer of that, and I’m extremely happy to be here in Puri and having the darshan of Jagannath Ji. Jai Jagannath.”
Known for his stellar performances as a pacer for Team India in the 1990s, Prasad has often spoken about his spiritual beliefs. His visit to the 12th-century Jagannath Temple comes during a period when Puri is witnessing an influx of devotees, adding to the temple town’s vibrant spiritual atmosphere.
The Shree Jagannath Temple is one of the four sacred Char Dham pilgrimage sites and holds immense cultural and religious significance. Devotees from across the country visit the temple seeking blessings from Lord Jagannath, considered a form of Lord Vishnu.
