Kalahandi: The police have arrested five cyber fraudsters from Uttar Pradesh for duping over 2.5 lakh from an elderly couple at Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district.
The accused have been identified as Avilash Singh, Parvej Ahamad, Wahid Khan, Shahrukh Khan, and Junaid Ahmad, residents of Bigehna village under Bewra police limits in UP’s Hamipur.
According to police, a team was formed to nab the accused persons in this connection.
On January 16, the fraudsters duped Rs 2.65 lakh from an elderly couple, posing to be a customer care executive of a telecom company. They asked Gangadhar Subudhi, to follow certain procedures for cash prizes on the occasion of New Year. Later, they swindled the amount from their bank account.
