Police achieved a breakthrough in the Nayapalli murder case by arresting five individuals, including the prime accused, Nandu.
The case involves the killing of Jitendra Das alias Bablu in Bhubaneswar’s Unit-8 area.
On December 27, Bablu parked his car near his residence in Nilakanthanagar when assailants attacked him. Nandu and his associates arrived in a car, armed with sharp weapons, and launched a sudden assault. Bablu attempted to flee but suffered severe injuries after being struck from behind. The attackers forced him into their vehicle and fled toward the CBI office road. Inside the car, Bablu sustained further head injuries.
Police began investigating immediately after the incident. Bablu was admitted to the hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries on New Year’s Day. Preliminary investigation suggested a love triangle as the motive. Both Bablu and Nandu reportedly had disputes over a young woman, which escalated into violence.
Police tracked Nandu and his associates after they fled Bhubaneswar. On Thursday, officers captured three suspects from the city outskirts, bringing the total arrests to five. Investigators continue probing the case to determine additional involvement and motives.
