A massive explosion took place at Kumarbasta village in Khurda district, injuring two children seriously and leaving another person with minor injuries.
The incident occurred this afternoon when firecrackers, meant for the Maha Shivratri celebrations, exploded unexpectedly.
The two seriously injured children were immediately rushed to hospital for primary treatment. Following initial care, they were shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for further medical attention. The cause of the explosion remains unclear.
Authorities, including SDPO Nihar Ranjan Pradhan and IIC Gayatri Mishra, have reached the scene and initiated an investigation. A scientific team is also on-site, conducting a thorough investigation to determine the reasons behind the explosion.
The children were at their uncle Tapas Mangaraj’s residence to celebrate Maha Shivratri. The explosion occurred while they were playing on the roof verandah. The loud noise alerted family members, who found the children in a bloodied state and immediately took them to the medical college.
