A significant cache of explosive materials was recovered by the Border Security Force (BSF) amid renewed Maoist activity in Odisha’s Koraput district.
The seizure marks a notable security success, indicating attempts by Maoist insurgents to target BSF jawans using landmine techniques.
According to sources, acting on specific intelligence, personnel from the 180 BSF Battalion stationed in Ramagiri launched a combing operation near Ghodaghat hill on the banks of the Saberi river, in Guptehswar Panchayat. Using bomb detection machines, the jawans uncovered 27 gelatin sticks concealed beneath a rock—materials suspected to be part of a Maoist landmine assembly.
This discovery comes after a period of inactivity in the area, raising concerns about a resurgence of insurgent operations. The recovered explosives were safely transported to the BSF camp and are scheduled to be handed over to Baipariguda Police Station for further investigation.
Security forces remain vigilant, as the incident hints at deeper Maoist plans targeting government forces in southern Odisha.
