The Excise Department of Tusura seized 26 kg of ganja at Kukurakhai Chhak under Deogaon police station in Bolangir district and arrested two peddlers.
The smugglers have been identified as Panchanan Sahu (40) from Kurukupa village and Rajendra Kumar Dash (53) from Ghantapada village.
Acting on a tip-off, the officials stopped a four-wheeler and discovered the contraband hidden under the seat in two white sacks. The vehicle, a maroon-colored four-wheeler with registration number OR-02-AW-2351 and engine number M16AN2002963, was also seized.
The arrested peddlers were apprehended at the scene and forwarded to the Tusura court for violating Section 8(c) of the NDPS Act, 1985. Their bail was rejected, and they were sent to Balangir judicial custody.
The raid was conducted under the leadership of Inspector Srikant Panigrahi, with the assistance of ASI Prithviraj Kuanr, Constable Bibhuti Bhushan Bhoi, Bhojraj Barai, and Sonali Pradhan.
