Odisha Vigilance secured the conviction of Sanjaya Kumar Mallick, Former I/c Headmaster-cum-Secretary of the School Management Committee (SMC), Budhibalanda Project Upper Primary School (PUPS), Boudh Block.

The Special Judge, Vigilance, Phulbani, sentenced him to four years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 20,000.

Investigators charged Mallick under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(c)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and Sections 409/120B of the IPC. He misappropriated government funds that were allocated for the construction of the Budhibalanda PUPS building and failed to execute the work.

Odisha Vigilance immediately took Mallick, who also serves as an Assistant Teacher at Gundulia UGHS in Boudh Block, into jail custody after sentencing. Moreover, authorities announced that they will move the competent department to dismiss him from service following his conviction.

The case demonstrates Odisha Vigilance’s determination to combat corruption in the education sector. Furthermore, officials stressed that misuse of government funds undermines development projects and erodes public trust. They reiterated their commitment to ensuring accountability among public servants and protecting the integrity of governance.

By securing this conviction, Odisha Vigilance reinforced its role as a watchdog against corruption and highlighted the consequences awaiting those who exploit public resources for personal gain.
