Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed his deep grief over the demise of Odisha’s well-known devotional singer, Santilata Barikv Chhotray, who passed away today after a long fight with cancer.
Barik was on ventilator support at a hospital in the capital city for the last few days. She was 64 and survived by her husband, Basant Chhotray.
In a condolence message, the Chief Minister said that Santilata Barik, a popular Bhajan singer, was a unique devotee of Lord Jagannath. She was very popular for her Jagannath Bhajans with soulful vocals.
The Chief Minister described the demise of Santilata Barik as an irreparable loss to the cultural world of Odisha.
The Odisha CM prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family.
The Chief Minister has also announced that the last rites of Santilata Barik will be done with full state honours.
