Mumbai: The Bombay high court here on Friday granted bail to scholar-activist Anand Teltumbde, who has been charged as an accused in Elgar Parishad–Bhima Koregaon violence case.
The court, however, stayed the operation of its order for a week to allow the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to challenge the same in Supreme Court. Following this, Teltumbde will not be able to walk out of jail till then.
Teltumbde has been in jail since his arrest in the case in April 2020.
Teltumbde, who is presently lodged at the Taloja prison in Navi Mumbai, had moved the high court last year after a special court refused to grant him bail.
